About This Role

Seeking an experienced Civil Excavation Foreman in Alabama to lead hands on civil projects. You’ll run and coordinate excavators, dozers, graders and related equipment, direct crews on trenching and site prep, and make sure work is done right, on time, and safely. This is field-first work for a heavy equipment operator who can read plans, manage crew performance, enforce safety, and keep machines running. What You'll Do

  • Supervise daily excavation activities and crew performance on civil sites
  • Operate and coordinate excavators, dozers, graders, loaders and related equipment as needed
  • Set up and enforce safe trenching, shoring, grading and site-prep practices
  • Read plans and layout marks to guide excavation, grade control and offsets
  • Schedule equipment use, monitor machine maintenance and perform basic hydraulic/general repairs
  • Manage site cleanup, traffic control/flagging and keep jobsite documentation up to date

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in excavation/trench work and heavy equipment operation (dozer, excavator, grader, loader, backhoe)
  • Ability to read plans, perform site layout and basic land surveying checks
  • Hands-on skills in heavy equipment hydraulic maintenance and general machine upkeep
  • Strong knowledge of civil construction tasks including paving support, concrete work and demolition cleanup
  • Experience enforcing safety procedures, trench/shoring standards, and directing traffic control/flagging crews
  • Reliable, able to supervise crews, work long hours and travel within Alabama as projects require

Qualifications

  • OSHA 10 (required) — OSHA 30 preferred
  • Flagger/Traffic Control certification (preferred)
  • CDL Class A or B preferred for drivers and dump truck operation
  • NCCER or other heavy equipment/operator certification preferred
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to pass a drug screen
  • Basic English literacy to read plans and communicate with crew
