Scraper Operator — Per Diem

About This Role

Looking for a skilled Scraper Operator to run scrapers on mass grading and civil construction jobs across Indiana. This is a per diem, traveling position based out of Indianapolis, IN. You’ll operate scrapers and related heavy equipment to prepare sites, move earth, and shape subgrades for roads, commercial pads, and land development. You’ll be part of hands-on crews on varied job sites. The role requires safe, efficient machine operation, basic troubleshooting and maintenance, and the ability to read civil drawings and follow GPS grade plans. Travel within Indiana is required; per diem and travel support provided.

What You'll Do

• • Operate scrapers for mass grading, site cut/fill, and earthmoving to project grade and specification
• • Use GPS/grade control, civil drawings, and staking to achieve design elevations and slopes
• • Perform pre‑shift inspections, routine maintenance, and basic repairs to keep equipment safe and productive
• • Coordinate with foremen, graders (bladers), dozers, loaders, and roller operators to sequence site work
• • Maintain daily logs, report equipment issues, and follow site safety plans and traffic controls
• • Load/unload equipment, follow hauling procedures, and help with site cleanup and stockpile management

What We're Looking For

• • Proven experience operating scrapers on civil mass grading projects
• • Skilled with GPS navigation/grade control and reading civil drawings
• • Experience operating related equipment: grader/blader, dozer, loader, skid steer, backhoe, roller
• • Comfortable with excavation/trench work, subgrade prep, and compaction sequencing
• • Willingness to travel across Indiana for per diem assignments and work varied shifts
• • Strong safety record and ability to follow site safety procedures

Qualifications

• • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; reliable transportation for travel to and from job sites
• • Equipment operator certification or documented heavy-equipment experience (scraper preferred)
• • Familiarity with GPS grade-control systems; ability to read and follow civil drawings
• • OSHA 10 (preferred) or willingness to obtain safety training prior to start
• • Able to pass drug screen and background check; available for multi-day travel assignments
