Heavy Equipment Operator — Motor Grader / Blade

Nationwide $23-$37/hr

About this role

Seeking experienced motor grader/blade operators for commercial civil construction projects across the Southeast United States. You’ll work on site preparation and grading for commercial jobs — roads, pads, utilities and general sitework — using blades, GPS systems and hand signals to meet civil tolerances. This is a regional search: expect multi-day deployments across Southeast states, steady project assignments, and work directly with foremen and survey crews. Candidates should be self-sufficient, safety-focused, and comfortable operating other site equipment as needed.

What you'll do

  • Operate motor grader/blade to perform finish grading, drainage shaping, and road base work to civil specifications
  • Use machine-mounted GPS/rover systems and follow survey stakes and grade sheets to meet tolerances
  • Read and interpret civil drawings and site layout instructions; adjust grade and slope per plans
  • Perform daily inspections, routine maintenance, and safe start-up/shut-down of assigned equipment
  • Coordinate with foremen, surveyors, and other operators to sequence sitework and maintain production
  • Operate other heavy equipment (dozer, loader, skid steer, excavator) as project needs dictate

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience operating motor graders on commercial civil construction or sitework projects
  • Familiarity with GPS navigation/GPS rover systems and civil drawing interpretation
  • Competence in site layout, grade control, and slope/compaction awareness
  • Ability to operate additional site equipment (dozer, loader, skid steer, excavator) when needed
  • Willingness to travel and work multi-day regional assignments across the Southeast U.S.
  • Strong safety habits, reliable attendance, and ability to work outdoors in varying conditions

Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Operator certification or documented heavy-equipment operating experience (preferred)
  • Experience with GPS grade control / GPS rover systems
  • OSHA 10 (or equivalent safety training) preferred
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • Proficiency in reading civil drawings and basic communication in English

What we offer

  • Full-time, project-based regional work with consistent schedules on commercial jobs
  • Overtime opportunities and steady run of projects across the Southeast
  • Paid time off and standard benefits package where offered (medical, dental, vision)
  • Site-specific safety training and equipment provided
  • Opportunities for skills training and equipment operator upskilling
