About This Role

Per diem Heavy Equipment Operator needed in Gail, TX. You will run dozers, excavators and loaders to perform road and right-of-way maintenance — loading, hauling, grading, trenching and basic pipe/culvert installation. We want experienced operators who work safe, check and maintain equipment, and can train others on jobsite operation and techniques. Assignments are per diem with travel to regional West Texas job sites as needed.

What You'll Do

  • Operate dozers, excavators, loaders and other heavy equipment for road and right-of-way work
  • Load, haul, dump and spread materials (gravel, sand, dirt); smooth and grade roads
  • Trench, build ditches and install culverts, water lines and sewer pipes
  • Inspect equipment daily and maintain fluid levels, lubrication and basic service
  • Train and mentor crew members in safe equipment operation and job techniques
  • Inspect finished work, structures or materials to identify defects or needed corrections

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 3+ years operating dozers, excavators and loaders on construction or road crews
  • Proven ability to grade, trench and load/haul on rough terrain
  • Knowledge of routine equipment checks, fluid/lube procedures and basic troubleshooting
  • Experience training or leading other equipment operators (foreman-level duties a plus)
  • Familiarity with inspection and test plans (ITPs) and following site safety procedures
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel for per diem assignments

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • 3+ years heavy equipment experience (dozer, excavator, loader)
  • Valid driver's license; CDL preferred
  • OSHA 10 (preferred) — OSHA 30 a plus
  • Equipment-specific certification (NCCCO or vendor certificates) preferred
  • Ability to pass drug screen and background check; basic English for safety communication
