Heavy Equipment Operator

About this role

Seeking experienced Heavy Equipment Operators for per diem assignments based out of Pacific Junction, IA. You will operate dozers, excavators and loaders to perform road and right-of-way maintenance, repair, and construction tasks across regional job sites. This role is hands-on: grading, loading and hauling materials, trenching for culverts and pipes, and performing daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance. Work is field-based and may include travel to nearby project locations with site-specific training provided.

What you'll do

• • Operate dozers, excavators, loaders and other heavy equipment for road and right-of-way work
• • Load, haul and dump materials; spread rock, gravel, sand and dirt; smooth and grade surfaces
• • Trench and construct ditches; install culverts and assist with water and sewer pipe installation
• • Inspect equipment daily; check fluid levels, lubrication points and report defects; perform basic maintenance
• • Follow site plans and grade stakes; keep work areas clean and safe
• • Train and mentor crew members in safe equipment operation and job techniques when assigned

What we're looking for

• • Proven experience operating dozers, excavators and loaders on road or utility projects
• • Strong mechanical aptitude for routine inspections and preventive maintenance
• • Ability to work on rough terrain and in all weather conditions
• • Read and follow basic site plans, grade stakes and verbal instructions
• • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to regional job sites; able to pass a drug screen

Qualifications

• • Valid driver's license (CDL Class A preferred)
• • Equipment operator certification preferred
• • OSHA 10 or equivalent site safety card preferred
• • Able to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
• • High school diploma or equivalent; English or Spanish communication skills are a plus
