Heavy Equipment Operator
About This Role
Heavy Equipment Operator needed in El Paso, TX for construction and site work projects. You’ll run dozers, excavators, loaders, graders, skid steers and dump trucks to support excavation, grading, demolition and material handling across local job sites. Work is hands-on, physical, and focused on getting projects done safely and on schedule. This role is for reliable operators who follow site safety rules, perform daily equipment checks, and communicate with supervisors and crew. Pay is competitive and based on experience (DOE); overtime often available on busy projects. Local candidates with their own reliable transportation preferred.
What You'll Do
- • Safely operate heavy equipment including dozer, excavator, loader, grader, skid steer, backhoe, dump truck and forklift for site work.
- • Perform excavation, grading, site prep, demolition and material loading/unloading as directed by supervisor.
- • Follow grade stakes and plans, assist crew with setting/maintaining grades, trenches and erosion control.
- • Conduct daily pre- and post-shift equipment inspections, perform basic maintenance, and report defects.
- • Secure and load materials, assist truck drivers with spotting and load transfers, and maintain clean, organized work areas.
- • Follow site safety procedures, use PPE, report hazards, and keep accurate time and equipment logs.
What We're Looking For
- • 2+ years operating heavy equipment on construction or civil projects; experience with dozer, excavator, loader, grader, skid steer required.
- • Proven ability to perform loading/unloading, general heavy equipment maintenance, and operate dump trucks and forklifts.
- • Knowledge of civil construction, demolition and general construction site practices.
- • Able to read basic plans/grade stakes, take direction from supervisors, and work in varied weather conditions.
- • Reliable transportation to site/yards, punctual, able to pass drug screen and follow safety rules.
Qualifications
- • Valid driver’s license; CDL Class A or B preferred for dump truck work.
- • OSHA-10 (preferred) or willingness to obtain.
- • Equipment operator certification or documented operator experience on dozer, excavator, loader, grader and skid steer.
- • Able to pass drug test and background check.
- • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus; high school diploma or GED preferred.
