Heavy Equipment Operator
About this role
We’re hiring Heavy Equipment Operators for construction and site-work projects in El Paso, TX. You'll run dozers, excavators, loaders, skid steers and other machines to support excavation, grading, demolition and material handling on local civil construction sites. This is hands-on, full-site work. Expect early starts, outdoor conditions and project-based schedules across the El Paso area. You’ll follow site safety procedures, work under a superintendent or foreman, and perform basic equipment inspections and routine maintenance to keep machines running.
What you'll do
- • Operate dozers, excavators, loaders, skid steers, backhoes, graders and dump trucks safely and efficiently
- • Support excavation, grading, demolition and material-handling tasks on civil construction sites
- • Load and unload materials and position equipment for site work and hauling
- • Perform daily equipment inspections, basic maintenance and report defects
- • Follow site safety procedures, read grade stakes, and carry out supervisor directions
- • Keep work areas organized and assist ground crews as needed during site operations
What we're looking for
- • Proven experience operating heavy equipment on construction or civil sites (dozer, excavator, loader, grader, skid steer)
- • Skilled in loading/unloading materials and safe equipment positioning
- • Basic heavy equipment maintenance and ability to complete daily inspections
- • Familiarity with demolition, earthwork and general construction site processes
- • Ability to follow site safety policies, read simple plans/grade stakes, and take direction from supervisors
- • Reliable attendance, ability to work in outdoor conditions and travel to job sites around El Paso
Qualifications
- • Valid operator certifications or training preferred (equipment-specific operator cards)
- • OSHA 10-hour or equivalent site safety training preferred
- • Ability to read grade stakes and basic site drawings
- • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to local job sites
- • Spanish language skills helpful; ability to complete site safety orientation and required pre-employment screenings
