About this role
Local construction crews in El Paso are looking for experienced heavy equipment operators to run dozers, excavators, skid steers and other earthmoving gear on sitework and civil construction projects. You’ll be working on excavation, grading, demolition support and material handling for ongoing projects across the city. This is hands-on work: follow supervisor directions, maintain equipment, use GPS/grade-control systems, and keep the jobsite moving safely and on grade. Reliable attendance, a safety-first attitude, and proven machine skills get you to work every day.
What you'll do
- Operate heavy equipment (dozer, excavator, grader, loader, skid steer, backhoe, dump truck, forklift/fork lift) for excavation, grading, material handling and demolition support
- Perform site preparation, grade to plans and stakes, load/unload materials and move stockpiles
- Use GPS grade control and machine guidance systems to achieve specified grades and alignments
- Conduct daily pre-shift inspections, basic maintenance, fueling and report mechanical issues promptly
- Follow site safety procedures, attend toolbox talks, work under supervisor direction and use spotters when required
- Coordinate with truck drivers and crew members to secure loads, set routes and keep production on schedule
What we're looking for
- Proven experience operating dozer, excavator, grader, loader, skid steer, backhoe, dump truck and forklift/fork lift on construction sites
- Hands-on familiarity with GPS/grade-control systems and reading grade stakes or basic site plans
- Skilled in loading/unloading materials and general heavy equipment maintenance and inspections
- Experience in civil construction, demolition and general sitework
- Reliable transportation to job site and ability to work day shifts with occasional overtime
- Clear communication on crew, ability to follow supervisor directions; Spanish language skills helpful
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites
- Equipment operator certification or documented field experience preferred
- Forklift / fork lift certification preferred
- Familiarity with GPS/grade control systems and machine-guidance workflows
- Ability to pass drug screen and background check as required by site
- English required; Spanish-speaking ability is a plus
