Heavy Equipment Operator Foreman

Atlanta, GA $22-$28/hr

About this role

Lead a traveling crew as a Heavy Equipment Operator Foreman on civil, earthwork, grading, and sitework projects across the U.S. You'll run and supervise excavators, dozers, scrapers, graders, rollers and compactors while enforcing safety and quality standards. This is a per diem travel position based out of Atlanta, GA. Expect extended assignments at job sites nationwide, coordinating crews, handling site layout and inspections, and training operators to meet project specs and production targets.

What you'll do

  • Supervise and coordinate heavy equipment operations (excavator, dozer, scraper, grader, roller) across sitework and earthwork projects
  • Operate heavy equipment as needed and lead crews to meet production, schedule and quality requirements
  • Perform daily inspections, preventive maintenance, and basic repairs; maintain inventory of tools and parts
  • Set grades, verify site layout, perform work inspections and ensure compaction and finish meet specifications
  • Enforce safety procedures, traffic control/flagging, and compliance with local, state and federal regulations
  • Train and mentor equipment operators and laborers; communicate progress and issues to project management

What we're looking for

  • Proven experience operating and supervising heavy equipment on civil, grading or earthwork projects
  • Strong leadership with clear verbal and written communication across crews and supervisors
  • Skilled in site layout, grade control, compaction practice and work inspection
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance, basic heavy-equipment repairs and inventory control
  • Ability to travel extensively and work extended assignments on a per diem basis
  • Able to enforce safety standards, implement traffic control, and follow project specifications

Qualifications

  • CDL-A, CDL-B, or CDL-C (one required)
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (MVR required)
  • Demonstrated experience with excavator, dozer, grader, scraper, roller and skid steer
  • Ability to read plans, set grades, and perform site layout
  • Comfortable working nationwide travel assignments and living on per diem
  • English proficiency for crew communication and written reports
