Heavy Equipment Operator Foreman
About This Role
Join a hands-on crew as a Heavy Equipment Operator Foreman based out of Atlanta, GA and travel nationwide leading civil, earthwork, grading, and sitework projects. You’ll run and oversee excavators, dozers, scrapers, graders, rollers and skid steers while keeping crews productive, safe, and on schedule. This is a per-diem travel position paying $20+/hr (DOE) with per diem and travel pay. You’ll be out on the road to different project sites, supervising operators and laborers, performing inspections, and making sure work meets project specifications and safety standards.
What You'll Do
- • Supervise and coordinate heavy equipment operations on earthwork, grading, sitework and utilities projects across nationwide sites
- • Operate excavators, dozers, scrapers, motor graders, rollers and skid steers as needed to meet production goals
- • Set up site layout, grade stakes, check elevations and inspect work for quality against project plans and specifications
- • Enforce safety procedures, perform daily preventive maintenance inspections, and ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations
- • Lead, train and mentor equipment operators and laborers; assign crews, track productivity and report progress to project leads
- • Maintain equipment and parts inventory, document maintenance and repairs, and handle basic troubleshooting on site
What We're Looking For
- • 3+ years operating heavy equipment (excavator, dozer, grader, scraper, roller, skid steer) with proven foreman or lead experience
- • Strong leadership and team management—able to supervise crews, assign tasks and enforce standards
- • Clear verbal and written communication across crews and project stakeholders; ability to read plans and set grades
- • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, site layout and work inspection for civil/earthwork projects
- • Perform preventive maintenance inspections and basic heavy equipment maintenance; maintain parts/tools inventory
- • Able and willing to travel extensively nationwide on per-diem assignments; reliable and ready for extended travel
Qualifications
- • CDL - A, CDL - B or CDL - C (one of these required)
- • Valid state driver’s license and clean driving record
- • DOT medical card (preferred)
- • Traffic control / flagger certification (preferred)
- • Fluent English (verbal and written)
