Heavy Equipment Operator - Excavator / Pipe Crew

About This Role

Join a civil construction pipe crew in Quakertown, PA as a Heavy Equipment Operator. You’ll run excavators/hoes for trenching, pipe installation, and other underground utility work on local projects. This is hands-on field work with a crew-focused environment. The role is practical and steady: set up and operate equipment to grade and dig trenches, work with pipelayers and laborers, follow project plans and safety rules, and help keep the job moving on schedule. Immediate openings for operators who know how to run an excavator around pipe and utilities.

What You'll Do

• • Operate excavators/hoe for trenching, backfill, and pipe installation following line and grade
• • Work directly with underground utility and pipe crews to place and adjust pipe, bedding, and backfill
• • Perform daily equipment checks, basic maintenance, and report defects
• • Read and follow project plans, stakes, grade lasers, and supervisor directions
• • Maintain safe worksite practices around other trades, traffic, and public utilities
• • Assist laborers with rigging, slinging pipe, and basic pipe-laying tasks as needed

What We're Looking For

• • Proven experience operating excavators/hoes on underground utility or civil construction projects
• • Comfortable working around open trenches, heavy pipe, and traffic control zones
• • Able to read basic grades, stakes, and work from verbal or written instructions
• • Physically fit for long days outdoors, lifting, climbing in/out of equipment, and working in all weather
• • Reliable transportation to Quakertown-area jobsites and punctual attendance
• • Good communication with crew leads and ability to follow safety protocols

Qualifications

• • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• • Ability to pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screening
• • OSHA 10 (preferred) or willingness to obtain
• • NCCER or other heavy equipment/operator certification (preferred)
• • Flagger/traffic control certification (preferred) and basic safety training
