Heavy Equipment Operator

About This Role

Hands-on Heavy Equipment Operator needed for earthwork and site prep in and around Nelson, NH. You’ll run excavators, loaders, dozers and compactors on roads, foundations and site grading jobs. Work is outdoors — expect uneven terrain and all weather conditions. This is a practical, full-time role for someone who knows their machines and shows up on time. Pay is competitive and based on experience; overtime is available. Immediate starts for qualified operators who can troubleshoot basic equipment issues and work safely with a crew.

What You'll Do

• • Operate excavators, dozers, wheel loaders, backhoes and compactors for site prep, grading, trenching and backfill
• • Follow grade stakes and plans to cut/fill to required elevations and finish surfaces
• • Perform daily equipment checks, basic maintenance and report defects
• • Load and unload materials, spot for trucks, and secure loads for transport
• • Work with crew foreman to set up traffic control and maintain clean, safe job sites

What We're Looking For

• • 2+ years operating heavy equipment on construction or earthwork sites
• • Comfortable reading basic site plans, grade stakes and using string lines
• • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to Nelson-area job sites
• • Able to lift, climb and work long hours outdoors in variable weather
• • Willing to submit to pre-employment drug screen and background check

Qualifications

• • Valid driver’s license (CDL-B preferred but not required)
• • OSHA 10 (or OSHA 30 preferred)
• • Flagger/traffic control card a plus
• • Ability to communicate in English on site for safety and instructions
• • Current equipment certifications or documented hours on specific machines preferred
