Heavy Equipment Operator
About this role
Seeking an experienced heavy equipment operator based in Peachtree City, GA to run dozers, excavators, scraper pans, wheel loaders and off-road/articulated dump trucks on civil construction and storm utility pipe projects. You will work on site grading, earthmoving, and utility installation across Georgia and neighboring Southeast states. Candidates should have strong plan-reading skills and finish-grade ability. Overnight travel is required on some projects; the company provides travel accommodations and expenses when overnight work is needed. Compensation is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
What you'll do
- • Operate dozers, excavators, scraper pans, wheel loaders and off-road/articulated dump trucks safely and efficiently on civil and utility sites.
- • Read and interpret civil plan sets and survey staking to perform sitework and utility pipe installations.
- • Perform finish grading to plans and tolerances using GPS/grade control and hand‑finish methods.
- • Coordinate with surveyors, foremen and crew to set lines, grades and site layout.
- • Conduct daily equipment inspections, basic maintenance and report defects or service needs.
- • Travel to assigned project sites across Georgia and contiguous Southeast states and follow site safety protocols and schedules.
What we're looking for
- • Minimum of 2 years operating heavy earthmoving equipment (dozers, excavators, scrapers, loaders, off‑road dump trucks).
- • Proven ability to read and interpret civil drawings, plan sets and survey stakes.
- • Finish-grade capability and experience with GPS grade control or GPS rover systems.
- • Experience with site layout, measuring/cutting and working around storm utility pipe systems.
- • Reliable for travel and overnight assignments; valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
Qualifications
- • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- • 2+ years heavy equipment operation experience on civil/sitework projects.
- • GPS/grade control and GPS rover experience preferred.
- • Comfortable reading civil/utility plan sets and working from survey stakes.
- • Willingness to travel overnight and pass background/drug screening where required.
- • English proficiency for reading plans and clear on-site communication.
