HVAC Technician II — Orange County, CA
About this role
We are seeking a hands-on HVAC Technician II with at least 5 years of commercial HVAC experience to support projects across Orange County, CA. This is a mid-level field role focused on system start-up and testing, controls troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and general commercial HVAC repair. You’ll work on commercial and institutional sites, performing hands-on diagnostics, completing PM inspections, and documenting work in service logs. Expect a full-time schedule with regular day shifts and occasional after-hours or emergency callouts. Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to safety, and the ability to work with building controls are required.
What you'll do
- • Perform system start-up and commissioning tasks for commercial HVAC equipment and controls
- • Troubleshoot and repair controls, sensors, valves, motors, compressors, and related mechanical systems
- • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections, adjust systems, and complete required PM documentation
- • Diagnose system faults using meters, gauges, and controls software; execute corrective repairs
- • Coordinate with site teams, other trades, and project supervisors to keep work on schedule
- • Maintain tools, test equipment, and accurate service records; follow site safety procedures
What we're looking for
- • Minimum 5 years commercial HVAC field experience (systems start-up, troubleshooting, PMs)
- • Proven ability to troubleshoot HVAC controls, sequences, and electrical components
- • Experience with HVAC system start-up, testing, and performance verification
- • Skilled in preventive maintenance inspections and commercial HVAC repair
- • Comfortable reading mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and control schematics
- • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel between Orange County sites
Qualifications
- • EPA Section 608 certification (Type II/Universal)
- • HVACR trade school diploma, technical certificate, or completion of an apprenticeship
- • OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour safety card (preferred)
- • Ability to pass background check and drug screen
- • Valid driver's license; CDL not required
- • English required; Spanish language skills a plus
