Ironworker Journeyman

Greenville, MS $18-$29/hr

About this role

Experienced Ironworker Journeyman needed for a heavy industrial power project in Greenville, MS. You will perform structural steel layout, fabrication and erection work on-site, working from blueprints and specifications to set, align, bolt and weld steel members. This is a per diem-eligible, site-based role with a 5x10 schedule. The job requires safe rigging and hoisting, operating with cranes/manlifts/scaffolds, working at heights (may exceed 200 feet), and leading and inspecting subordinate ironworkers to ensure work meets contract plans and quality standards. Candidates must be able to pass pre-access drug/alcohol testing and a fit-for-duty medical exam.

What you'll do

  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications and codes to determine layout and installation of structural steel
  • Fabricate, position, hoist and set steel frames, columns, beams and girders using cranes and rigging gear
  • Align, bolt and weld steel members; verify vertical and horizontal alignment with levels, lasers or transits
  • Assemble and inspect rigging, signaling hoisting operators and ensuring safe lift procedures
  • Inspect and supervise subordinate crew work for compliance with plans and specifications; identify and correct deficiencies
  • Use turnbuckles, crowbars, jacks and hand tools to force members into final position and secure for permanent attachment

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years of industrial construction / ironwork experience on heavy industrial projects
  • Proven ability to read and apply blueprints, specs and building codes for structural steel work
  • Skilled in rigging, crane signaling, hoisting and safely working at heights (may exceed 200 feet)
  • Proficient in bolting and general welding practices; able to use cutting and welding tools safely
  • Able to climb, work from scaffolds, manlifts and ladders; physically able to perform site demands
  • Must pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing and a fit-for-duty medical; own basic ironworker tools

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 (preferred)
  • Rigging and crane signaling certification or demonstrable experience
  • Welding certification or strong welding experience (SMAW/GMAW experience helpful)
  • Current first aid/CPR preferred
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license may be required
