Ironworker Foreman
About this role
Experienced Ironworker Foreman needed in Lakeland, FL to lead structural steel erection crews on commercial and industrial sites. This role focuses on hands-on supervision of erection activities, advanced welding (3G, 4G, TIG), quality control, and on-the-ground problem solving. You will direct crews, coordinate with site stakeholders, enforce safety and project specs, and mentor junior ironworkers. The right candidate has strong leadership, clear communication, and a proven background in steel erection and connection work.
What you'll do
- • Supervise daily steel erection activities: position, align, and secure steel columns, beams, and connections
- • Perform and oversee advanced welding (3G, 4G) and TIG welding as needed to meet project specs
- • Inspect welds and structural connections for quality, compliance, and fit-up; document findings
- • Enforce site safety, PPE use, and safe rigging/hoisting practices; conduct toolbox talks and pre-shift briefings
- • Read and interpret shop drawings and erection plans; coordinate layout and installation with layout crew
- • Train and mentor junior ironworkers and welders; manage crew assignments and on-site performance
What we're looking for
- • 5+ years steel erection experience with prior foreman or crew-lead responsibility
- • 3G and 4G welding certifications (required) and proven TIG welding proficiency
- • Skilled in installing steel columns, beams, and connecting steel members per drawings
- • Strong verbal and written communication; ability to coordinate with supervisors and subcontractors
- • Experience performing weld and structural inspections and ensuring work meets specs
- • Leadership and team management skills; reliable, punctual, and able to work variable site schedules
Qualifications
- • 3G Welding Certification (required)
- • 4G Welding Certification (required)
- • TIG welding certification or documented TIG welding experience (preferred)
- • High school diploma or GED preferred
- • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- • Ability to pass drug screen and background check
