Millwright Journeyman
About this role
Industrial contractor seeking an experienced Millwright Journeyman for a power project in Greenville, MS. This is hands-on field work installing, aligning, testing and troubleshooting heavy machinery on a 5x10 schedule with daily per diem for traveling workers. You’ll work from drawings and specs to set foundations, grout and align machines to tight tolerances, rig and direct lifts, dismantle and reassemble equipment, and make adjustments during testing. This role requires safe, dependable performance in noisy, confined and elevated industrial environments.
What you'll do
- • Plan, diagram and lay out equipment locations from drawings and project specifications
- • Set, align and grout machinery and equipment; establish centerlines, elevations, bench marks and subsole/sole plate positions
- • Rig, hoist and direct crane operators for equipment placement; use jacks, hoists, rollers and dollies to move heavy components
- • Torque, test and make adjustments or repairs to installed machines to meet specified tolerances
- • Dismantle, move, reassemble and align machines using hand and power tools, squares, micrometers and plumb bobs
- • Verify component inventory, inspect work for compliance with plans and correct deficiencies
What we're looking for
- • 5+ years industrial construction/millwright experience on heavy machinery installation and alignment
- • Proficient reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints and layout instructions
- • Skilled in rigging, hoisting, use of jacks and setting equipment to precise tolerances
- • Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in noisy, dusty industrial environments
- • Able to use hand and power tools, measurement instruments and perform mechanical adjustments
- • Must have required personal tool set and reliable transportation; ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing
Qualifications
- • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- • Minimum 5 years relevant millwright/industrial construction experience
- • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions and communicate clearly with crew and supervision
- • U.S. driver's license may be required
- • Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol screening
- • Must own required millwright tools
