About this role
Join a field crew installing and maintaining piping systems on industrial project sites in and around Walterboro, SC. This is hands-on work: assemble, cut, thread, weld/braze/solder, test systems and rig pipe supports. Expect 40–60 hour weeks with possible overnight travel and overtime on project schedules. We need reliable, safety-focused pipefitters who can read drawings, follow pre-task safety plans, and work efficiently with minimal supervision. OSHA-10 is required (employer provides training); you’ll work with lifts and forklifts, perform hydrostatic testing, and help keep job sites organized and safe.
What you'll do
- Assemble, cut, thread, weld, braze and solder pipe sections and fittings to blueprint/specs.
- Layout piping and supports from drawings; measure, mark and cut pipe to length, bend and fit components.
- Install and secure pipe to structures using brackets, clamps, hangers and welding/fastening methods.
- Inspect and test piping systems (pressure gauges, hydrostatic testing, visual checks); identify and repair leaks or faults.
- Operate aerial lifts, scissor lifts and forklifts as needed on site; follow lift plans and rigging procedures.
- Follow pre-task safety plans, identify/correct hazards, maintain tools/equipment and keep work area organized.
What we're looking for
- High school diploma or GED (or equivalent) and prior pipefitting/industrial piping experience.
- OSHA 10-hour certification required — employer provides training if needed.
- Proven skills in welding, brazing, soldering, threading, valve installation and general pipefitting.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, isometrics and technical drawings; perform basic math for layouts.
- Comfort working at heights, in confined spaces, outdoors and in unconditioned environments; able to lift up to 90 lbs and stand 10–12 hours.
- Willingness to travel and stay overnight for project assignments; flexible to work 40–60 hours per week with overtime as required.
Qualifications
- OSHA 10-hour certification — required (or completed during onboarding).
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
- Forklift/aerial lift certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
- English language proficiency for safe communication and reading technical documents.
