Shop Pipe Fabricator

About this role

Join a busy industrial pipe spool shop in Lake Charles, LA as a Shop Pipe Fabricator. You’ll lay out, cut, fit and assemble pipe spools and complex piping assemblies from isometric and spool drawings in a fast-paced production environment. This role requires a hands-on fabricator with strong math and layout skills, experience with multiple alloys, and a commitment to safety and quality. All candidates must pass a craft assessment (70% or higher) to be considered.

What you'll do

• • Read isometric and spool drawings; measure, lay out, bevel, cut and fit pipe, fittings and flanges.
• • Fabricate rolling offsets, mitered piping, reducers, tees, branch connections and full spools.
• • Use oxy/acetylene, plasma cutting equipment, grinders and other shop tools safely and efficiently.
• • Verify dimensions, alignment and orientation prior to welding; maintain quality checks on fits.
• • Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow site safety procedures and PPE requirements.
• • Operate aerial work platforms when trained and perform safe work at heights as required.

What we're looking for

• • 5+ years of industrial pipe fabrication or pipe fitting experience in a spool/fabrication shop.
• • Ability to read and interpret isometric and spool drawings and apply shop mathematics/geometry.
• • Hands-on experience with carbon steel, stainless, chrome and specialty alloys.
• • Proficient with oxyfuel cutting, plasma cutting, grinders and common fabrication tools.
• • Strong attention to detail, reliable attendance and ability to work independently or on a team.
• • Must pass a craft assessment with a score of 70% or higher.

Qualifications

• • Successfully pass craft assessment (70% or higher)
• • 5+ years documented pipe fabrication/pipefitting experience
• • Ability to use and maintain required PPE (steel-toe boots, hard hat, ANSI Z87.1 eyewear)
• • Working knowledge of spool fabrication, layout math, and blueprint interpretation
• • Comfortable working at heights and operating aerial platforms when authorized
• • Strong math and measurement skills; basic tack-welding experience preferred
