Pipelayer Ditch Helper

About this role

Join a crew installing underground piping across Georgia (with occasional work in Florida). This role is hands-on: you’ll work in trenches, help set and assemble pipe, and support equipment operators on-site. We’re looking for a reliable ditch helper who can load/unload materials, perform trench labor, and operate basic equipment when needed. The position requires regular travel within Georgia and some travel into Florida, so a willingness to be on the road is essential.

What you'll do

• • Assist with pipe setting, jointing, and alignment in trenches
• • Dig, clean, and prepare trenches; handle backfill and compaction duties
• • Load and unload pipe, fittings, and other materials at job sites
• • Operate basic equipment (skid steer, small excavator, or similar) at an entry/assistant level as needed
• • Maintain tools, secure materials, and keep work areas clean and safe
• • Follow site safety plans, traffic control, and crew directions during transport and installation

What we're looking for

• • Hands-on experience with piping installation and general pipefitting or plumbing
• • Experience with excavation and trench work, including shoring and safe entry/exit practices
• • Ability to load and unload materials and handle heavy lifting
• • Basic equipment operating experience (skid steer, small excavator) — entry-level operator OK
• • Willingness to travel regularly across Georgia and occasionally into Florida
• • Reliable, punctual, able to follow directions and work as part of a crew

Qualifications

• • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel between sites
• • Able to pass a drug screen and background check
• • Physically able to lift heavy materials and work in trenches for extended periods
• • Basic equipment operator certifications or tickets are a plus
• • Comfortable working outdoors in varied weather and conditions
