QA / QC Manager
About This Role
Join our crew as a per diem QA/QC Manager based in Jessup, MD. You’ll oversee quality control for asphalt, concrete and quarry products, run daily lab tests, develop mix designs, and make sure work meets federal, state and local specs. This hands-on role coordinates with plant control rooms, field crews and government reps, analyzes technical data, and enforces quality procedures across multiple projects and product lines. Pay up to $63,000/year (per diem position).
What You'll Do
- • Run daily QC tests and lab experiments for asphalt, concrete and aggregate to confirm compliance with project specs and regulations
- • Develop, document and follow quality control procedures and inspection/test plans (ITPs) for plants and project sites
- • Produce and adjust asphalt and concrete mix designs to meet customer and project requirements
- • Coordinate QC activities with plant control rooms, production staff and external sales/technical reps
- • Work with federal, state and local agency representatives on project testing, documentation and compliance
- • Collect, analyze and report technical data; keep accurate logs, test results and job cost/quality records
What We're Looking For
- • Hands-on experience performing asphalt and concrete QC tests and lab work (sieve, gradation, density, slump, air, etc.)
- • Proven ability to develop and enforce ITPs and quality control procedures
- • Strong math and analytical skills; able to read technical data and interpret test results
- • Clear verbal and written communication for coordination with crews, plant staff and government reps
- • Knowledge of federal, state and local construction specs and environmental regs (NEPA, Clean Water/ Air basics)
- • Comfort working across multiple product lines (asphalt, concrete, quarry) and traveling to project sites (per diem)
Qualifications
- • High school diploma or GED required; technical training in materials testing preferred
- • Paving Quality Control Technician or similar QC certification preferred
- • Nuclear density gauge certification (or experience with nuclear gauge) highly preferred
- • Working knowledge of AASHTO/ASTM test methods and mix design procedures
- • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to jobsites; reliable transportation
- • English required (effective verbal and written communication)
