About this role

Join a hands-on QA/QC team in Jessup, MD overseeing quality for asphalt, concrete and quarry products. This per diem position is field- and lab-focused: you’ll run daily QC tests, conduct lab experiments, and develop mix designs to meet project specs and regulatory requirements. You will coordinate with plant control rooms and government agency representatives, analyze technical production data, and implement quality control procedures across multiple product lines and projects. This role suits someone who knows paving and materials testing, can interpret specs and blueprints, and communicates clearly with operations and inspectors.

What you'll do

• Run daily quality control tests and lab experiments for asphalt, concrete, and quarry products to confirm compliance with project specs and regulations
• Develop, document and implement QC procedures and inspection/test plans for plant and field operations
• Create and verify asphalt and concrete mix designs to meet project specifications and customer requirements
• Coordinate QC activities with plant control rooms, production staff, and government agency representatives on project sites
• Receive, review and analyze technical data from sales and technical reps; adjust production procedures as needed
• Maintain accurate test records, prepare reports, and perform other job-related duties as assigned

What we're looking for

• Hands-on experience in asphalt and concrete quality control and materials testing
• Ability to run nuclear density gauge tests and other standard field/lab test methods
• Strong math and analytical skills; able to interpret technical drawings and project specifications
• Knowledge of federal, state and local construction regulations (Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, NEPA familiarity a plus)
• Experience developing and enforcing inspection and test plans (ITPs) and QC procedures
• Clear verbal and written communication; able to coordinate with plant operators and government inspectors

Qualifications

• Paving Quality Control Technician experience or certification
• Nuclear density gauge experience or certification (or ability to obtain)
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for per diem travel
• English required (verbal and written)
