Project Safety Assistant

About this role

Join a busy construction team as a field-focused Project Safety Assistant in Austin, TX. You will support daily safety efforts on active jobsites by conducting inspections, identifying hazards, documenting findings, and helping drive corrective actions to keep crews safe and compliant. This role is hands-on and field-based. You’ll work directly with superintendents, project managers, trade partners, and field crews, assist with orientations and training, and keep safety records up to date. This position is a strong fit for observant, dependable people who want to grow into construction safety roles.

What you'll do

• • Perform daily site walkthroughs and inspections; identify hazards and document findings
• • Report safety issues, track corrective actions, and follow up to verify completion
• • Assist with new-hire orientations, toolbox talks, and on-site training support
• • Maintain safety documentation and recordkeeping (inspections, permits, incident logs)
• • Support incident reporting and basic investigation activities, including gathering facts
• • Coordinate with superintendents, project managers, trade partners, and crews to reinforce safety practices

What we're looking for

• • Construction or field experience preferred; strong interest in construction safety
• • Good verbal and written communication; able to write clear reports and talk to crews
• • Basic knowledge of common construction hazards and OSHA requirements
• • Able to walk job sites for extended periods and work in all weather conditions
• • Detail-oriented, dependable, and able to manage multiple site tasks
• • Willingness to learn and take on increasing safety responsibilities

Qualifications

• • OSHA 30-hour certification required
• • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s in safety or related field is a plus
• • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites
• • Ability to pass background check and drug screen
• • CPR/First Aid certification preferred
