Heavy Civil Superintendent

Nationwide

About this role

Seeking a hands-on heavy civil superintendent to lead field crews and run daily site operations on civil construction projects nationwide. This is a foreman-level leadership role for a practical supervisor who stays in the field, directs production, and enforces safe work practices. You will coordinate crews and subcontractors, manage daily schedules and materials, and keep projects moving on time while maintaining quality and safety standards. Expect project-to-project travel and long site hours when needed; this role is about making field operations efficient and safe every day.

What you'll do

  • Supervise and direct field crews and subcontractors on heavy civil tasks (grading, excavation, concrete, utilities, erosion control).
  • Develop and execute daily and weekly work plans, assign crews, and monitor production to meet schedule targets.
  • Enforce site safety procedures, conduct toolbox talks, and ensure compliance with site-specific safety plans.
  • Coordinate materials, equipment and logistics to prevent downtime; track equipment use and report shortages.
  • Perform quality checks, read plans/specs in the field, and correct work to meet project standards.
  • Communicate daily progress, issues, and manpower needs to project management and craft leads.

What we're looking for

  • Minimum foreman/supervisory experience on heavy civil projects (proven field leadership).
  • Solid knowledge of civil construction methods, materials, and site execution.
  • Strong verbal and written communication with crews, subs, and project staff.
  • Ability to develop and adjust work schedules to meet production goals and deadlines.
  • Commitment to enforcing safety procedures and maintaining a clean, organized site.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between project sites as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • OSHA 10 (required) or OSHA 30 (preferred); First Aid/CPR preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass drug and background screening where required.
  • Spanish language ability a plus; heavy equipment operator certifications helpful.

What we offer

  • Site-based work with steady project assignments and opportunities for travel.
  • Paid time off and holiday schedule (project-dependent).
  • Support for certifications and jobsite training.
  • Per diem or travel reimbursement for out-of-area assignments.
  • Access to health and retirement benefits where applicable and offered.
