Per diem

Traveling Concrete Superintendent

Irving, TX

About this role

Build and lead. You’ll run full lifecycle construction of large pre-stressed concrete liquid storage tanks across the U.S., based out of Irving, TX. This hands-on role puts you in charge on site — safety, quality, schedule, crews and subcontractors all report to you until closeout. Expect heavy travel and per diem work. You’ll plan layouts, manage concrete placement and testing, keep project documentation current, and represent the company to clients, engineers and inspectors. This is a field-first leadership role for a seasoned concrete pro who wants to teach crews, solve problems in real time, and deliver tanks that meet strict standards.

What you'll do

  • Direct all on-site construction activities: supervise field crews and subcontractors for safety, quality and productivity.
  • Read and interpret contract drawings; oversee layout, formwork, concrete placement and testing to ensure compliance with plans and specs.
  • Champion and enforce the company safety program with regular inspections, toolbox talks and immediate corrective actions.
  • Manage schedules, materials, equipment and documentation using construction ERP and field-management tools; maintain daily reports and change logs.
  • Lead quality assurance and punch-list work from inspections through closeout; coordinate with engineers and inspectors to resolve issues.
  • Mentor Assistant Superintendents and field staff; maintain professional client and vendor relationships on site.

What we're looking for

  • 6+ years of heavy civil or industrial concrete construction experience, or a degree in Construction Management plus field experience.
  • Hands-on experience with line & grade, formwork systems, large-scale concrete placements and prestressed tank construction preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations, crane operations, rigging and accident investigation basics.
  • Proficient with tablets/laptops and construction software for scheduling, reporting and ERP systems (experience with field management apps helpful).
  • Willingness to travel extensively and work extended hours on remote project sites; per diem position.
  • Clear communicator with proven leadership, time management and conflict-resolution skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or related field, or equivalent field experience (6+ years).
  • Valid driver’s license; passport preferred for nationwide travel.
  • OSHA 30 (preferred) and site safety training; CPR/First Aid recommended.
  • Concrete testing/craft certifications preferred (ACI field testing or equivalent).
  • Ability to pass background and drug screen; English required, Spanish a plus.

What we offer

  • Per diem for travel assignments and travel expense reimbursement.
  • Health benefits and retirement plan options.
  • Paid training, skills development and certification support.
  • Paid time off and company-recognized performance incentives.
  • Travel incentives and structured leadership advancement opportunities.
