What You'll Do

  • Perform field layouts: set exterior and interior grade lines, working lines, anchor bolt/column/beam locations
  • Operate and maintain surveying instruments (total stations, digital levels, data collectors) and use Carlson/AutoCAD software to record data
  • Interpret blueprints, shop drawings, specs, and field instructions; resolve on-site measurement issues
  • Supervise and direct crew members (Rodman/chainmen) and oversee assigned subcontractor survey work
  • Document field measurements, keep accurate notes and as-built records, and report progress to supervisor
  • Follow all safety procedures, maintain a drug-free work environment, and use required PPE

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Field Engineer or Survey Crew Chief preferred
  • Hands-on experience with electronic/robotic total stations, data collectors, digital levels, tripods, prisms, and Carlson software
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, civil drawings, specifications, and shop drawings
  • Physically able to work outdoors in all weather, at elevated heights, and frequently lift up to 70 lbs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to coordinate with crews and subcontractors
  • Proven math skills (algebra and trigonometry) and attention to detail

Qualifications

  • 5+ years as Field Engineer or Survey Crew Chief (preferred)
  • Proficient with Carlson software and AutoCAD; experienced with total stations and data collectors
  • Surveyor-in-Training (SIT) or Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) credentials a plus
  • OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites; must pass drug screen
  • Fluent in English (read/write) for interpreting plans and reporting

What We Offer

  • Pay up to $54/hour (per diem position)
  • Daily per diem for travel and meals while on assignment
  • Hands-on use and training with industry-standard instruments and Carlson/AutoCAD software
  • Opportunity to lead crews and build supervisory experience
  • Work outdoors on varied construction sites — steady short-term assignments
  • PPE provided and strict adherence to safety and drug-free policies
