About This Role

Entry-level rodman position supporting field engineers in the Nashville, TN area. You’ll work on construction and property survey crews handling layout, measurements, and basic instrument tasks. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to build a career in land surveying. Daily work is outdoors and physically active. You’ll get on-the-job training, learn to set up survey instruments, record measurements accurately, and support safe, efficient field operations. Local routes and steady work — hourly pay DOE and overtime available.

What You'll Do

  • Assist field engineers with survey instrument setup, tripod and prism placement
  • Set up, level, and maintain total stations, tripods, rods, and prisms
  • Mark and record measurements, control points, and reference lines accurately
  • Load, unload, and secure survey equipment and materials on job sites
  • Support site layout, stakes, and cutting/measurement tasks per civil drawings
  • Follow job site safety rules and help maintain a clean, organized work area

What We're Looking For

  • Basic ability to read and interpret drawings and civil plans
  • Familiarity or interest in land/property surveying and site layout
  • Comfort with physical labor: lifting gear, standing, and working outdoors
  • Strong verbal and written communication across crews and engineers
  • Experience loading/unloading material and handling tools safely
  • Basic measuring and cutting skills; attention to accurate recordkeeping

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to pass a drug screen and background check
  • OSHA 10 (preferred) or willingness to obtain after hire
  • English required; Spanish or other language skills are a plus
