About This Role

Join a hands-on survey crew in Port Arthur handling land, aerial and hydrographic projects. This role splits time between fieldwork on coastal and inland sites and office tasks preparing plats and CAD deliverables. Expect outdoor work, travel within the region, and occasional early starts to match tides and survey windows. Pay range $28–$40/hr DOE with overtime. Ideal candidate has practical field surveying experience, reads civil and technical drawings, and can operate GPS/RTK, total stations, and hydrographic equipment. Clean driving record and the ability to work in hot, wet, and windy conditions required.

What You'll Do

  • Perform boundary, topographic and property surveys in the field using GPS/RTK, total stations and level instruments
  • Conduct aerial data collection and process drone/LiDAR inputs for mapping and deliverables
  • Operate hydrographic equipment (echo sounder, single/multibeam) from small vessels for dredge and shoreline surveys
  • Prepare field notes, legal descriptions, survey plats and drawings; interpret civil and technical blueprints for stakeout
  • Set up and maintain equipment, complete quality checks, and ensure accurate data transfer to CAD (Civil 3D) and GIS
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors and regulators on-site; follow safety plans and maintain clear records

What We're Looking For

  • Hands-on experience with land, aerial and hydrographic surveying methods
  • Skilled in GPS/RTK, total station setup, leveling and survey data collection
  • Proficient at interpreting civil drawings, technical blueprints and CAD/Civil 3D deliverables
  • Able to operate small survey vessels/boats or willing to obtain boat handling experience
  • Physically able to work outdoors in heat, rain and on uneven terrain; valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Willingness to work overtime and occasional early starts for tidal or aerial windows

Qualifications

  • Registered Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) preferred; LSIT or equivalent accepted
  • Experience with Civil 3D, CAD and survey processing software
  • Familiarity with hydrographic survey equipment and echo sounders; TWIC or boat endorsement a plus
  • OSHA 10 (or willingness to obtain), clean driving record and ability to pass drug screen/background check
  • English required; Spanish a plus
