About This Role
Join a Texas-based field crew as a Surveyor Instrument Man running total stations and Trimble equipment. This hands-on role pays $36–$40/hr plus a $130/day per diem on days worked. You'll be out in the field doing layout, control shots, and data collection on civil and land surveying projects. We want experienced instrument operators with 5+ years running survey gear who can hit the ground running. Position is per diem with steady assignments across Texas and is open to workers willing to relocate for the work.
What You'll Do
- • Set up and operate total stations, Trimble GNSS, and field data collectors
- • Perform field surveys: control, stakeout, topographic shots, and data collection
- • Record accurate field notes, point files, and daily logs; ensure data QC
- • Calibrate, maintain, transport, and troubleshoot survey instruments
- • Read and follow civil drawings, survey plans, and staking instructions
- • Coordinate with crew members and report daily progress to supervisor
What We're Looking For
- • 5+ years running total stations and Trimble survey equipment in the field
- • Strong land surveying fundamentals and GPS/GNSS navigation skills
- • Able to read and interpret civil drawings and staking plans
- • Physical ability to work outdoors in varying Texas conditions
- • Reliable transportation and flexibility for travel or relocation
- • Basic data/file management and clear on-site communication skills
Qualifications
- • High school diploma or GED
- • 5+ years instrument-running experience with total stations and Trimble
- • Experience with GPS/GNSS and field data collectors
- • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- • Able to pass background check and drug screen if required
- • Proficient reading civil drawings; English language proficiency
