Truck Driver / Mechanic
About This Role
Drive and maintain heavy trucks and equipment based in Atlanta, GA. This hands-on role combines commercial driving with mechanical work — you’ll operate trucks on local/regional routes and perform routine and corrective maintenance to keep rigs running safely and on time. We’re looking for reliable drivers who can also diagnose and repair diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, hydraulics, AC/electrical systems, and fuel/emissions components. Expect a safety-first job with clear duties, steady hours, and opportunities for overtime and paid training.
What You'll Do
- • Safely operate heavy trucks and trailers on local and regional routes, following DOT rules and company safety procedures
- • Perform pre-trip, en-route and post-trip inspections; document defects and complete repair tickets
- • Diagnose, service and repair heavy equipment systems including diesel/gas engines, transmissions and powertrain components
- • Maintain and repair hydraulic systems, AC and electrical accessories, and fuel/emissions systems
- • Use GPS navigation and ELDs for routing and electronic logs; communicate with dispatch about status and delays
- • Perform preventative and machine maintenance, keep tools and parts organized, and complete maintenance records
What We're Looking For
- • Valid CDL Class A with a clean driving record and current DOT medical card
- • Minimum 2 years commercial driving experience plus hands-on heavy equipment maintenance experience
- • Proven ability to work on diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, powertrain and hydraulic systems
- • Experience servicing AC/electrical accessories and fuel/emissions systems on heavy equipment
- • Comfortable using GPS navigation, ELDs and basic diagnostic tools
- • Able to lift up to 50 lbs, work outdoors, and handle occasional overnight or regional travel
Qualifications
- • CDL Class A (required) and DOT Medical Card
- • ASE Medium/Heavy Truck or Diesel Mechanic certification (preferred)
- • EPA 609 certification for mobile AC (preferred)
- • Endorsements a plus: HAZMAT, Tanker, Doubles/Triples
- • Familiarity with ELD systems and GPS routing
- • English required; Spanish a plus
