Waterproofer Carpenter/Foreman

Fort Lauderdale, FL

About this role

Join a Self-Perform Division 7 team in Fort Lauderdale as a hands-on Waterproofer Carpenter/Foreman working on commercial moisture and fire protection scopes. You’ll install and inspect air barriers, joint sealants, below-grade and under-slab systems, hot-applied membranes, firestopping, expansion joints, and perform floor polishing on active job sites. This role requires a strong lead-by-example approach: supervise and train crews, enforce safety and quality standards, coordinate schedules and subcontractors, and track job costs using Microsoft Office and project/accounting/scheduling software. Expect physical, outdoor work at heights and in varied weather while wearing required PPE.

What you'll do

  • Install and oversee air barrier systems, joint sealants, caulking, and surface preparation on commercial projects.
  • Perform below-grade, under-slab, and hot-applied waterproofing installations and inspections.
  • Execute firestopping, expansion joint installation, and commercial floor polishing as required by project scope.
  • Lead and mentor crews on day-to-day tasks; enforce safety and quality standards and manage site housekeeping.
  • Coordinate with superintendents, subcontractors, and vendors to maintain schedule, materials, and job-cost tracking using project/accounting/scheduling software.
  • Complete daily reports, perform site inspections, and resolve field issues to keep work on schedule and compliant with codes.

What we're looking for

  • Proven hands-on experience in commercial waterproofing, firestopping, and sealant application (air barriers, below-grade, under-slab, hot-applied).
  • Strong ability to read and interpret drawings, plans, and specifications; knowledge of local building codes and regulations.
  • Solid communication skills for crew leadership, coordination with trades, and written reporting.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and comfortable using project management, scheduling, and cost-tracking software.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work at heights and in hot/cold weather, and reliably wear required PPE.
  • Commitment to enforcing site safety procedures, conducting root cause analysis for incidents, and maintaining quality control.

Qualifications

  • OSHA 10 (preferred) or OSHA 30 certification
  • Firestopping and waterproofing system training or demonstrable field experience
  • Construction craft certification (e.g., NCCER) or equivalent is a plus
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; able to pass background and drug screening
  • CPR/First Aid or comparable safety certification preferred
  • English required; Spanish or other language skills a plus

What we offer

  • Paid time off (PTO) and paid holidays
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance options
  • 401(k) plan with employer match
  • Life insurance and basic disability coverage
  • Paid training, safety courses, and career development opportunities
  • Tool allowance or company-provided PPE and job-site equipment
