About this role
Experienced tube welder needed in Morrilton, AR to perform high-quality GTAW and SMAW welds on pipe and tube. This role is hands-on and requires welders who can meet strict 6G test standards: a restricted 2" Schedule 80 in 6G GTAW and a 2" monster coupon 6G with GTAW root/hot pass and SMAW fill/cap. You will work from welding procedures and drawings, set up joints, perform GTAW root and hot passes, complete SMAW fill and cap, inspect and document weld quality, and follow site safety protocols. Immediate starts available for candidates who meet the test requirements and have solid pipe/tube experience.
What you'll do
- Perform GTAW root and hot passes on restricted 2" Schedule 80 6G welds
- Complete SMAW fill and cap on 2" monster coupon 6G welds per procedure
- Set up and tack joints, position fixtures, and prepare materials for welding
- Read and follow blueprints, welding procedure specifications (WPS), and QC checklists
- Inspect finished welds visually and with basic NDT as required, document results
- Maintain welding equipment, electrodes, and a clean, organized work area while following safety rules
What we're looking for
- Must be able to pass a restricted 2" Schedule 80 6G GTAW test
- Must be able to pass a 2" monster coupon 6G test with GTAW root/hot pass and SMAW fill/cap
- Proven hands-on experience with GTAW (TIG) and SMAW (stick) on pipe/tube
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, WPS, and fit-up requirements
- Strong attention to weld quality, dimensional tolerances, and safety procedures
Qualifications
- AWS certification or ASME Section IX familiarity preferred
- High school diploma or GED (preferred)
- Proven record of passing pipe/tube 6G qualification tests
- Able to read technical drawings and use measuring tools
- Able to pass site pre-employment checks (drug screen/background) and safely perform physical tasks
