Multi-Process Combo Pipe Welder

About this role

Join a busy fabrication shop in Lake Charles as a Multi-Process Combo Pipe Welder supporting energy and EPC projects. You’ll run GTAW (TIG), SMAW (stick) and Flux Core welding in multiple positions to meet ASME/AWS quality and certification standards. This is a shop-based role (no per diem). Heavy shop-fabrication experience is preferred. Candidates must take and pass a weld test to qualify; strong attention to safety, fit-to-work practices, and consistent attendance are required. What you'll do

• • Perform multi-process pipe welding (GTAW/TIG, SMAW/stick, Flux Core) in flat, horizontal, vertical and overhead positions in a shop setting
• • Set up and adjust welding machines (amperage, voltage, slope/pulse) and prepare materials by cleaning, grinding, grooving or preheating
• • Assemble, align, tack and fixturize components to engineering specifications and welding procedures
• • Inspect and finish welds: remove slag/spatter, grind as required, and verify weld quality using visual and sound indicators
• • Complete required weld performance tests and support certification paperwork and tracking
• • Maintain a safe, clean work area and follow shop safety rules, PPE requirements and lockout/tagout procedures

What we're looking for

• • Proven proficiency in GTAW (TIG), SMAW (stick) and Flux Core pipe welding in multiple positions
• • Ability to read and follow welding procedures, technical drawings and blueprints
• • Heavy shop-fabrication experience preferred; must be able to work standing, bending, lifting and in confined positions per shop demands
• • Willingness and ability to take and pass required weld tests (see qualifications below)
• • Strong focus on safety, quality, and meeting production schedules with consistent attendance

Qualifications

• • Required: 6G welding certification or ability to pass 6G certification test
• • Weld test requirements: Monster coupon (TIG) – 6G (ASME); 6" TIG root, Flux Core out – 6G (ASME); Flux Core – 3G & 4G (AWS); Stick – 3G & 4G (AWS)
• • Experience with ASME and AWS welding standards and procedures
• • Ability to read blueprints and welding procedure specifications
• • Capable of passing shop safety and site-specific training; authorized to work in the U.S.
