Customer Story: Swinerton
Swinerton hired 10 craft workers in a single day through Skillit and every one of them showed up ready to work
June 2026 by Fraser Patterson
Swinerton is one of the nation's leading ENR Top 400 general contractors, known for delivering complex commercial, industrial, and specialty construction projects across the country. With a dedicated drywall division serving the Dallas–Fort Worth market, Swinerton needed to move fast to fill open craft roles and they needed workers who would actually show up.
The challenge: Filling a surge of drywall roles with day-one-ready workers
In May 2026, Swinerton's drywall division in The Colony, TX faced an urgent need: hire drywall carpenters, finishers, carpenters, and general laborers quickly to keep projects on schedule. Like most specialty contractors, Swinerton had experienced the all-too-common frustration of sourcing candidates who never show — scheduling interviews, making offers, and then watching new hires fail to appear on day one.
They needed a solution that could do more than just surface applicants. They needed workers who were verified, engaged, and ready to commit.
The solution: A Skillit-powered hiring event, purpose-built for craft workers
Skillit partnered with Swinerton to design and execute a dedicated hiring event at the Swinerton Drywall Training Facility in The Colony, TX. Rather than a passive job posting, this was a structured, high-touch recruiting day, with Skillit managing advertising, candidate screening, and on-site coordination from start to finish.
How it worked:
Skillit used its worker acquisition engine, as well as their internal outreach to Skillit candidates, reaching over 30,000 workers across the DFW market.
Workers declared their intention to attend with the Skillit team and if they did not already have a profile on the platform, Skillit’s team helped them build and verify their craft profiles before arrival.
On-site, multiple interviewers kept the process efficient, with workers moving from check-in to interview to offer in a single visit.
Swinerton's team evaluated candidates in real time, making hiring decisions the same day.
The result was a concentrated, high-signal pipeline as existing workers on Skillit’s platform and new candidates recruited through advertising showed up prepared to interview for real jobs.
The result: 10 hires in one day, 100% showed up ready to work
On May 19, 2026, Swinerton made 10 craft hires in a single day. That's not 10 offers, but 10 accepted positions, with every hired worker showing up ready to work the very next day. No-shows among confirmed hires: zero.
Of the workers who attended the event, 10 of the most qualified walked out with a job offer they accepted on the spot. The average cost of a worker hire was less than $100.
For context: the average cost of a construction craft hire through a staffing agency runs $3,000–$5,000 or more. Swinerton got verified, day-one-ready workers for a fraction of that and they got them fast.
At a glance:
Swinerton needed to hire qualified drywall carpenters and laborers for an immediate start.
Using Skillit’s existing pool of workers plus targeted campaigns on Skillit’s worker acquisition engine filled the event.
