Carpenter / Building Services Technician

About this role

Join a busy commercial building services crew in Houston, TX as a Building Services Technician. You’ll handle facility maintenance, repairs, and minor construction for commercial sites — work that uses your carpentry skills and practical problem solving every day. This role is best for experienced carpenters who are self-motivated, safety-focused and comfortable working independently on client-facing projects. Expect hands-on tasks across rough and finish carpentry, painting and basic concrete work, with travel between local job sites as needed.

What you'll do

  • Perform rough and finish carpentry, trim, door and hardware installation, cabinet work and basic concrete tasks on commercial sites.
  • Diagnose facility issues, make repairs, prepare cost-conscious material estimates, source materials and coordinate with vendors.
  • Complete painting, surface preparation, tape and float, and minor finishing work to meet project standards.
  • Follow OSHA safety protocols, use required PPE, maintain clean and hazard-free work areas and enforce site safety standards.
  • Communicate directly with clients, supervisors and team members to coordinate scope, schedules and project handoffs; organize daily tasks to meet deadlines.

What we're looking for

  • 3–5+ years commercial carpentry or facilities maintenance experience with strong finish and rough carpentry skills.
  • Possess OSHA 10 certification and a solid understanding of building codes and ADA standards.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; able to travel between job sites and carry tools/equipment.
  • Comfortable using hand and power tools, working at heights, lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing ladders and standing for long periods.
  • Proficient with basic tech: tablets, email, scheduling apps, and reading technical drawings/measurements. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Qualifications

  • OSHA 10 certification required
  • Valid driver’s license
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Bilingual: English and Spanish (preferred)
  • 3–5+ years commercial carpentry/facilities maintenance experience
  • Proficient with tablets, email and scheduling software
