Formwork Carpenter
About This Role
Seeking a hands-on formwork carpenter in Cartersville, GA to build and set rough wooden structures for concrete pours. You’ll work with gang forms, columns, Doka and Johnny clamp systems, plus scaffolding to assemble safe, load-bearing forms before concrete placement. This role requires precise layout, measuring and cutting, reading blueprints and solid rough carpentry skills. Pay is competitive — up to $35/hr — for experienced tradespeople who show reliability and a focus on safety and quality.
What You'll Do
- • Build and set vertical and horizontal concrete forms, gang forms, column forms and blocking using various form systems (Doka, Johnny clamps, etc.)
- • Construct, inspect and work from scaffolds and access platforms tied to formwork operations
- • Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings and project specs to determine layout and form design
- • Measure, mark, cut and assemble lumber, plywood and form components to project tolerances
- • Verify forms are square, level, aligned and structurally sound before concrete placement
- • Secure forms, install bracing and perform adjustments during prep and prior to pour
What We're Looking For
- • Proven experience with formwork and general rough carpentry (preferably 2+ years on commercial/industrial jobs)
- • Ability to read and interpret drawings, layouts and basic site plans
- • Skilled measuring, cutting and assembly with hand and power tools
- • Experience building and using scaffolding systems and following fall-protection rules
- • Familiarity with concrete placement workflow and form removal procedures
- • Physically fit: able to lift heavy materials, climb scaffolds and work outdoors in all weather
Qualifications
- • OSHA 10-hour preferred or willing to obtain
- • Scaffold user/erector training or certification preferred
- • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites
- • Ability to pass a drug screen and background check
- • Basic English for reading plans and communicating on site
