Carpenter — Doors, Frames & Hardware Installer

About this role

We're hiring an experienced commercial Doors, Frames & Hardware Installer (Carpenter) in Morrisville, NC. This is a full-time, hands-on role installing doors, frames and commercial hardware across multiple job sites and in the shop. You’ll be expected to maintain high-quality workmanship, follow plans and templates, and work safely with a small team. Daily work includes hanging prefinished doors, installing locks/hinges, basic welding and frame prep, and protecting finishes. You’ll create daily Pre-Task Plans, manage workflow between the shop and job sites, and travel to several locations in a typical day. This role requires attention to detail, solid mechanical skills, and reliable transportation.

What you'll do

  • Install basic to intermediate commercial doors, frames and hardware (locks, hinges, closers, etc.) per plans and manufacturer instructions
  • Read and interpret drawings, templates, plans, and manufacturer literature to confirm layouts and hardware locations
  • Use hand tools, battery-powered drills, and perform basic welding and prep work on metal frames
  • Handle and hang prefinished doors, patch dents/dings with Bondo, and protect finishes to avoid damage
  • Create daily Pre-Task Plans, sequence work, and manage workflow between the shop and multiple job sites
  • Visit multiple job sites in a day as required and maintain clean, safe work areas

What we're looking for

  • 3–5 years commercial door, frame and hardware installation experience preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, templates and manufacturer literature
  • Proven skill with hand tools, battery-powered drills and general carpentry techniques
  • Basic welding skills and frame prep experience (MIG/Stick familiarity a plus)
  • Reliable transportation in the Morrisville area and ability to travel to multiple sites in a day
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented, and able to follow established door-hanging sequences and quality standards

Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle for site travel
  • Basic welding experience (MIG/Stick) and ability to perform frame prep
  • Comfortable reading construction drawings and hardware schedules
  • Ability to pass background check and drug screen as required
  • Physical ability to lift and move doors/frames and work on ladders or scaffolding when needed
