About this role
Seeking skilled carpenters located within 20 miles of Alexandria, VA (22314). This is a location-based search for experienced carpentry tradespeople who can work on both residential and commercial jobs in and around Alexandria. Assignments include finish and rough carpentry, cabinet and trim work, framing, and site-specific installs. You’ll be dispatched to local job sites; typical work includes measuring and cutting materials, installing windows and stairs, building and setting cabinets, and reading and following drawings. Candidates should be self-sufficient, reliable, and able to travel to sites within the 20-mile radius each day.
What you'll do
- Read and interpret drawings and job specifications on site
- Perform bench work, finish carpentry, trim and paneling, and cabinet installation
- Rough carpentry tasks: floor, wall, roof and stair framing; in-wall blocking and structural framing
- Measure, mark and cut materials accurately; fit and secure trim, doors and windows
- Build and install staircases, sills and custom millwork; perform final adjustments and touch-ups
- Maintain tools, PPE and a clean, safe work area; follow site safety rules and directions from supervisors
What we're looking for
- Proven experience in finish and rough carpentry, cabinetmaking, trim/paneling and staircase work
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings and material lists
- Skilled in measuring, cutting, fitting and fastening a variety of wood and panel materials
- Experience with window installation, in-wall blocking and both floor and roof framing
- Comfortable working on residential and commercial construction sites; journeyman-level experience preferred
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for local travel
- Journeyman-level experience or equivalent documented trade experience
- OSHA 10 (preferred) or site-specific safety training
- Able to pass background and drug screen where required by site
- English required; Spanish or other language skills are a plus
