Datacom Structured Cabling Installer (Installer 1 / Installer 2)
About this role
Join a long-term structured cabling team on an 18–24 month project in Utah. This role is for hands-on installers who know Cat6, Ethernet runs, fiber termination and field testing and who can travel and live on-site for the duration. You will be installing, terminating and testing voice/data and fiber links in a commercial construction environment. This is a travel-required position — you must be willing to relocate to Utah and remain for the full project term.
What you'll do
- • Install and route Ethernet and Cat6 cabling to meet site plans and industry bend/radius standards
- • Pull, terminate and test fiber optic cabling, perform OTDR traces, VFL checks and visual inspections
- • Terminate copper and fiber connectors, polish/inspect endfaces and validate links to spec
- • Label, document and update cable layouts and as-built records daily
- • Maintain tools and test equipment, report defects, and keep a clean, safe work area
- • Coordinate with crew leads and other trades to meet schedule and site safety requirements
What we're looking for
- • Hands-on experience installing Ethernet and Cat6 structured cabling
- • Proven experience with fiber optic cabling, termination and testing (OTDR, VFL, fiber inspection)
- • Ability to read cable schedules, basic blueprints and follow installation drawings
- • Comfortable working in commercial construction settings, climbing, lifting and using hand/power tools
- • Must be willing to travel to Utah and remain on-site for the 18–24 month project duration
- • Clear communication in English and ability to work as part of a small crew
Qualifications
- • Installer-level telecommunications certification or equivalent field experience
- • Documented experience or training in optical fiber termination and testing
- • Training or credential in copper cabling termination and testing (or equivalent experience)
- • Proficient with OTDR and VFL equipment and fiber inspection procedures
- • Fluent in English and able to pass site onboarding and safety orientation
What we offer
- • Long-term assignment (18–24 months) with consistent, project-based work
- • Hands-on experience with fiber testing and advanced cabling installs
- • Overtime opportunities when project needs require
- • Site-specific safety and technical training provided
- • Work with experienced crews—good chance to sharpen field skills and qualifications
