Drywall Mechanic

About this role

We are hiring a hands-on Drywall Mechanic in Atlanta, GA to frame, build, install, and repair drywall, ceiling systems, and related fixtures on commercial construction projects. You’ll work from blueprints and layout instructions to hang panels, install grid and tiles, and finish openings for doors, windows, and fixtures. This role is practical and production-focused: expect daily use of saws, screw guns, lasers, scissor lifts, ladders and scaffolding. You’ll be responsible for quality checks with levels and squares, maintaining a safe jobsite, following schedules and production targets, and supporting foremen and crew as needed.

What you'll do

  • Measure, mark, cut and install drywall panels, ceilings, furdowns, and trim per drawings
  • Layout and install metal framing, tracks, studs, headers and ceiling grid systems
  • Operate chop saws, miter saws, screw guns, lasers/levels, scissor lifts and scaffolding safely
  • Check work for plumb, level and alignment; troubleshoot and correct fit or finish issues
  • Maintain clean, safe work area and follow PPE, site safety and company procedures
  • Assist with installing doors, windows, hardware and other project tasks as assigned

What we're looking for

  • 1–5 years’ experience in drywall, ceiling or carpentry work on commercial projects
  • Ability to read and follow blueprints, layout drawings and work instructions
  • Skilled with power tools, hand tools, laser levels, and ceiling installation tools
  • Comfortable working at heights using ladders, scaffolds and scissor lifts
  • Able to lift and carry materials, stand for long periods, and meet physical demands
  • Reliable attendance, ability to follow a project schedule, and basic communication skills

Qualifications

  • NCCER certification preferred (or equivalent drywall mechanic credential)
  • Proven experience with drywall hanging, finishing, and ceiling grid installation
  • Comfortable operating scissor lifts and certified to use aerial equipment when required
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites
  • Able to pass a background check and drug screen
