Drywall Mechanic
About This Role
Experienced Drywall Mechanic needed in Atlanta, GA. You’ll frame, build, install and repair drywall, ceilings, and related fixtures on commercial projects. Work includes layout from drawings, cutting and hanging panels, and using lifts and scaffolding to reach job areas. This is hands-on construction work — you should be comfortable with power and hand tools, reading blueprints, working at heights, and following production schedules. Pay ranges $17–$25/hr based on experience and certification. OJT and skills training opportunities available for crew members who want to advance.
What You'll Do
- • Read plans and measure/mark layouts; cut and fit drywall panels around openings, fixtures and penetrations
- • Frame and install studs, track, headers, corners, and other supports for walls and ceilings
- • Install ceiling grid, wires, wall angle, and ceiling tiles where required
- • Operate chop saws, miter saws, screw guns, lasers, TrakFast, scissor lifts, ladders and scaffolds safely
- • Check work for level, plumb and alignment; make corrections using levels, lasers and framing squares
- • Keep job site clean and safe; follow PPE and company safety rules
What We're Looking For
- • 1–5 years construction or carpentry/drywall experience on commercial projects
- • Able to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings and layout instructions
- • Skilled with drywall hanging, fastening, basic finishing, and acoustical ceiling installation
- • Comfortable working at heights using ladders, scaffolds and scissor lifts; able to lift and carry materials
- • Proven use of power tools (saws, screw guns, lasers) and hand tools common to drywall trade
- • Reliable transportation to job sites in the Atlanta area and basic communication skills
Qualifications
- • NCCER Certified Mechanic (preferred)
- • Relevant DW-MQ / CE-MQ trade module qualifications or equivalent training
- • Ability to pass drug screen and background check where required
- • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- • Basic verbal English for jobsite communication
