Labor Journeyman
About this role
Work as a Labor Journeyman based in Petersburg, VA supporting day-to-day site operations on active construction projects. You will keep the site safe and clean, help set up and break down work areas, assist specialized trades, and help manage material deliveries under the direction of a Foreperson. This is hands‑on, on‑site work in all weather conditions. You'll be expected to follow safety rules, report incidents, and communicate clearly with crew members and supervisors. What you'll do
- • Perform site setup, cleanup, and removal of construction debris (interior and exterior housekeeping)
- • Assist carpenters, masons, and other trades with basic labor tasks as directed by the Foreperson
- • Clean and sanitize jobsite trailers and maintain organized material storage
- • Help unload and stage materials; maintain basic inventory control for assigned areas
- • Direct and coordinate construction and pedestrian traffic; perform flagging tasks when required
- • Report safety incidents and injuries to the Foreperson and Safety Leader; follow site safety procedures
What we're looking for
- • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- • OSHA 10-hour certification required (employer assistance available if needed)
- • Valid ATTSA/VA flagger certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- • Ability to perform physical labor, navigate uneven jobsite terrain, and work in varying weather
- • Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to follow directions and work in a team
- • Basic inventory control and site layout awareness; reliable punctual attendance
Qualifications
- • OSHA 10-hour General Industry or Construction card
- • ATTSA (or equivalent) flagger certification valid for Virginia
- • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
- • English — fluent in verbal and written communication
- • Proof of certifications and credentials provided upon hire
