About This Role

Join our crew as a Civil Power Equipment Operator Foreman based in Indianapolis, IN. You will lead hands-on heavy equipment work on power-related civil construction projects, operating dozers, excavators, loaders, backhoes and paving equipment while directing a crew to meet schedule and quality targets. This is a per diem travel position — you must be willing to travel to project sites as required. The role focuses on crew supervision, on-site safety enforcement, basic equipment maintenance, and keeping projects on time and within specs.

What You'll Do

  • Supervise and lead crews on civil power construction sites; assign daily tasks and monitor productivity
  • Operate heavy equipment as needed (dozer, excavator, loader, backhoe, paving equipment) and perform layout checks
  • Develop and manage work schedules, coordinate equipment and crew logistics for project shifts
  • Train crew members on safe operation procedures and enforce company and OSHA safety protocols
  • Perform routine equipment inspections, document maintenance needs, and coordinate repairs
  • Verify grade, alignment and quality of work; report progress and issues to project management

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience as a heavy equipment operator on civil construction or power projects
  • Previous experience in a foreman or crew-lead role with crew management skills
  • Skilled operating dozers, excavators, loaders, backhoes and paving equipment
  • Ability to read site layout, set grades, and follow construction drawings
  • Hands-on knowledge of basic heavy equipment maintenance and pre-shift inspections
  • Willingness to travel to project sites; reliable transportation and flexible schedule

Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record
  • OSHA 10 (preferred) or willingness to obtain
  • Operator certification (NCCER or equivalent) preferred
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience
  • English proficiency for crew communication; bilingual a plus
