Heavy Equipment Operator
About This Role
We're hiring experienced Heavy Equipment Operators in Forsyth, GA to operate dozers, excavators, loaders and other heavy machines on road and right-of-way maintenance projects. You’ll work on grading, loading, hauling, trenching and culvert/pipe installation on jobs that range from smooth surfaces to rough terrain. This role is hands-on: you’ll inspect and maintain your machines, follow inspection and test plans (ITPs), and may be asked to train or mentor less-experienced operators. What You'll Do
- • Operate dozers, excavators, loaders and related heavy equipment for road and right-of-way maintenance
- • Load, haul and dump materials (gravel, dirt, sand) and perform grading and spreading of rock or gravel
- • Trench and construct ditches; install and backfill culverts, water lines and sewer pipes
- • Inspect equipment daily, maintain fluid levels, greasing and basic preventive maintenance
- • Follow project ITPs and safety plans; perform equipment and site inspections to identify defects
- • Train and mentor other operators in safe equipment operation and job techniques
What We're Looking For
- • Proven experience operating dozers, excavators and loaders on road or utility projects
- • Ability to read basic plans, follow ITPs and perform quality checks on work and materials
- • Comfort working on uneven terrain and in all weather conditions
- • Strong focus on safety: lockout/tagout, machine checks and PPE use
- • Dependable transportation to Forsyth, GA job sites and reliable attendance
Qualifications
- • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- • Operator certification or documented on-the-job experience with dozers, excavators and loaders
- • OSHA 10 (preferred) or willingness to complete safety training
- • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
- • Basic English for crew communication; additional languages a plus
