Heavy Equipment Operator — Fort Worth, TX
About this role
Join a road and right-of-way crew in Fort Worth operating dozers, excavators and loaders to support maintenance and repair projects. Work will include grading, loading and hauling material, trenching for culverts and pipe, and routine equipment inspections. This is hands-on field work on local projects across the Fort Worth area. Expect full-time day shifts with possible overtime and occasional travel between job sites. You’ll be responsible for safe, efficient equipment operation and may be asked to train and lead other operators on site.
What you'll do
- • Operate dozers, excavators, loaders and other heavy equipment for road and right-of-way work
- • Load, haul and dump material; grade and smooth roads; spread rock, gravel and base material
- • Trench and build ditches for installation of culverts, water and sewer pipes; remove silt and debris
- • Perform pre- and post-shift equipment inspections; check fluid levels, lubrication and basic systems
- • Follow project plans, grade stakes and inspection/test plans (ITPs); report defects or issues
- • Coach and train other operators in safe operation and job techniques when assigned
What we're looking for
- • Proven experience operating dozers, excavators and loaders on road or right-of-way projects
- • Hands-on ability to grade, trench, load/haul and operate on uneven or rough terrain
- • Experience performing equipment inspections, basic maintenance and fluid checks
- • Ability to read plans, grade stakes and follow work orders and inspection/test plans
- • Strong safety focus and ability to train or lead other operators in the field
- • Reliable transportation to and from Fort Worth-area job sites
Qualifications
- • Valid state driver's license; DOT medical card or CDL Class A preferred where required
- • OSHA 10-hour construction safety (or equivalent) preferred
- • Current equipment operator certification or documented field experience
- • Ability to pass drug/alcohol screening and background checks
- • Basic English reading and communication skills; Spanish language ability a plus
