Excavator Operator

About this role

Experienced Excavator Operators wanted for concrete site work in Orlando, FL. Under a foreman’s direction you’ll run excavators, dozers, skid steers and loaders to handle layout, fine grading, trenching, pit excavations, finishing work and hoisting while keeping equipment safe and productive. This is hands-on, on-site work. You’ll set up rotating and slope lasers or GPS, plan spoil and truck needs to keep production moving, complete trenching to OSHA standards, backfill and compact in lifts, and perform daily equipment checks and basic maintenance. Reliable attendance and the ability to follow drawings and grade specs are required.

What you'll do

  • Operate excavators, dozers, skid steers, loaders and related heavy equipment for earthmoving and concrete site work
  • Set up and use rotating lasers, slope lasers and GPS/rover units to establish and verify grades and layouts
  • Perform trenching and pit excavation following OSHA benching and sloping standards; maintain layout lines during digs
  • Plan spoil placement and coordinate haul trucks and equipment to maintain continuous production without bottlenecks
  • Execute backfilling and compaction in lifts; perform finishing applications and assist with hoisting and rigging
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections, perform basic maintenance, and report issues to foreman promptly

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 3 years of heavy equipment experience (excavator experience required) on commercial or concrete construction sites
  • Proven ability to read and interpret drawings, site layout, and grade instructions; experience with laser/GPS grade control
  • Knowledge of OSHA excavation/trenching regulations and safe excavation practices
  • Physically fit for heavy work: lift up to 50 lbs, kneel, stoop, climb, work at heights and tolerate outdoor conditions
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to Orlando-area job sites

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Equipment operator certifications preferred (excavator, dozer, loader, skid steer)
  • OSHA 10 (or equivalent) preferred; trenching/safety training a plus
  • English required; Spanish or other language skills are a plus
