What you'll do

  • Operate excavators, dozers, wheel loaders, backhoes and graders to perform excavation, grading, trenching and backfill work.
  • Complete pre-shift and post-shift machine inspections; report defects and perform basic field maintenance (fluid checks, greasing, track tension).
  • Set up and use attachments (buckets, thumbs, rippers, hydraulic hammers) and move materials to support crew tasks.
  • Work from grade stakes, plans and stringlines to achieve required elevations and tolerances.
  • Follow site safety plans, traffic control, and directions from foreman; assist with rigging, loading/unloading and equipment tie-down for transport.

What we're looking for

  • Minimum 2 years operating heavy equipment on commercial construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Proven ability to run excavators, dozers and loaders safely and productively; familiarity with attachments.
  • Comfort reading grade stakes, basic site drawings and using laser/gps grade tools.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and willingness to travel or relocate for multi-week assignments.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and meet site-specific safety orientation requirements.

Qualifications

  • Operator certification or documented heavy-equipment experience (NCCER or equivalent preferred).
  • OSHA 10-hour construction or site safety card preferred.
  • Current certifications for forklift, aerial lift, or other attachments a plus.
  • Ability to read English-language plans and receive safety instructions (Spanish speakers encouraged to apply).
  • Clean driving record and ability to pass DOT physical if required.

What we offer

  • Per diem assignment structure with travel and multi-week site work.
  • Consistent project schedules and opportunity for repeat assignments in the region.
  • On-site PPE and safety equipment provided.
  • Overtime opportunities based on project needs.
  • Supportive crew environment with hands-on supervisors and clear day-to-day direction.
