Heavy Equipment Operator
About this role
Join a crew of experienced operators running scrapers, dozers, excavators, rollers and loaders on projects across the United States. This is a per diem travel position for operators who are ready to move between job sites, work long days when needed, and get the job done safely and efficiently. You’ll operate a range of earthmoving machines, use GPS/grade-control and blade work, perform daily inspections and light maintenance, and adapt quickly to changing site conditions. Travel, a strong work ethic, and a focus on safety are required.
What you'll do
- • Operate scrapers, dozers, excavators, rollers and loaders safely and efficiently on earthmoving and civil construction sites
- • Use GPS grade control, blade work and machine controls to meet grade and production targets
- • Perform daily pre- and post-shift equipment inspections; report defects and complete basic maintenance
- • Follow site safety plans, enforce PPE and lockout/tagout procedures, and attend site-specific safety briefings
- • Adapt to different jobsite conditions and crew assignments; keep accurate equipment logs and job reports
What we're looking for
- • Proven experience operating scrapers, dozers, excavators, rollers and loaders on civil construction or earthmoving projects
- • Willingness to travel nationwide for multi-week assignments; flexible schedule to meet project needs
- • Ability to read basic plans, follow grade stakes and use GPS/grade-control systems
- • Strong focus on safety and ability to enforce site safety procedures
- • Basic mechanical skills for routine equipment maintenance and inspections
- • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
Qualifications
- • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- • Ability to pass DOT physical and pre-employment drug test
- • Minimum 2 years operating heavy earthmoving equipment (scraper/dozer/excavator/roller/loader)
- • Familiarity with GPS/grade-control systems and blade work; equipment operator certification preferred (NCCER or manufacturer certs)
- • English proficiency for reading plans and safety communications
