Heavy Equipment Operator — Pile Driving

About This Role

Seeking a hands-on Heavy Equipment Operator to run pile driving operations on the Virginia Creeper Trails project in Damascus, VA. You will be operating pile rigs and related heavy equipment to set foundations and structural supports along the trail. Work is outdoors and may include uneven terrain and variable weather. This is field work for someone who knows pile driving and civil construction. You’ll coordinate directly with site supervisors and crew, perform regular equipment checks, and support excavation and concrete activities as needed. Competitive pay (DOE) and overtime available for the right candidate.

What You'll Do

• • Operate pile driving rigs and associated heavy equipment safely and efficiently on trail and civil work sites
• • Set up, align, and secure piles, slings, and rigging; verify layout and elevations per drawings
• • Perform daily inspections, basic maintenance, fueling, and cleaning of equipment; report defects promptly
• • Coordinate with site supervisors, laborers, and concrete crews to sequence pile driving and foundation tasks
• • Support excavation, trenching, and backfill operations as required; assist with formwork and concrete pours when needed
• • Follow site safety plans, traffic/flagging directions, and maintain a clean, organized work area

What We're Looking For

• • Proven experience operating pile driving equipment on civil or trail projects
• • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and pile driving layouts
• • Hands-on civil construction skills including excavation, trench work, and general concrete tasks
• • Experience operating dozers, excavators, and rollers or similar heavy equipment
• • Comfort working outdoors in varying site and weather conditions and on uneven terrain
• • Strong teamwork and communication with supervisors and crew on fast-paced sites

Qualifications

• • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• • OSHA 10-hour construction safety card (required) — OSHA 30 preferred
• • Equipment operator certifications (NCCER or equivalent) for heavy equipment a plus
• • First Aid/CPR and flagging certification a plus
• • Ability to pass a drug screen and background check; bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
