HVAC Technician

About this role

Local HVAC Technician role based in Houston, TX working on commercial and light-commercial systems. You'll perform installations, system start-up and testing, routine service, and troubleshooting across job sites in the Houston area. This is hands-on field work: you’ll travel to local sites, work with controls and refrigerant systems, perform compressor repairs and assist with system commissioning. Mostly Monday–Friday with occasional overtime and emergency calls as projects require.

What you'll do

• • Install and commission commercial HVAC equipment and rooftop units on job sites around Houston
• • Perform system start-up, testing, calibration, and documentation for newly installed systems
• • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical and control issues on chillers, rooftop units, and packaged systems
• • Perform compressor inspection, repair and replacement tasks following manufacturer procedures
• • Complete routine preventive maintenance, filter changes, and system performance checks
• • Maintain jobsite documentation, report findings to supervisor, and communicate clearly with site contacts and building staff

What we're looking for

• • Proven experience working on commercial HVAC systems—installation, service, and troubleshooting
• • Hands-on experience with system start-up, testing, and commissioning procedures
• • Experience with compressor installation, repair, and refrigerant handling best practices
• • Ability to read mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams and use diagnostic tools (manifold gauges, multimeter, combustion analyzer)
• • Able to work at heights, lift equipment, and perform physically demanding tasks; reliable local travel around Houston

Qualifications

• • EPA Section 608 certification for refrigerant handling
• • Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation and clean driving record
• • Prior commercial HVAC or refrigeration coursework or trade school training preferred
• • Comfortable working in both indoor mechanical rooms and outdoor rooftop environments
• • Spanish language skills a plus
