About this role
Lead grading and/or pipe crews on civil projects in Walterboro, SC. You’ll run daily operations on site, set production targets, manage resources, and keep work moving safely and on schedule. This is a hands-on foreman role focused on trenching, bedding, pipe installation, and crew development. You will plan daily and weekly work, ensure crews complete pre-task hazard plans, track time and production, coordinate equipment and subcontractors, and mentor team members so an assistant foreman can step up. Safety, clear communication, and reliable production tracking are critical to success in this role.
What you'll do
- Set and communicate daily/weekly work plans and clear tasks for one or more grading and pipe crews
- Lead pre-task planning (PTP) for each shift; identify hazards and required controls for trenching and confined-space work
- Coordinate equipment, manpower, materials, tools and subcontractors to meet daily production goals
- Enter time, complete daily reports, track units and compare actual production to targets; adjust plans to meet goals
- Enforce site safety practices, perform trenching/confined-space checks, and ensure crews follow OSHA requirements
- Coach and mentor crew members; train a successor assistant foreman and improve crew skills and morale
What we're looking for
- OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 certifications (training provided) and ability to maintain required safety credentials
- Competent Person training for excavation/trenching and confined-space work
- First Aid and CPR certification (or ability to complete training)
- Proven experience leading multiple civil crews in grading, trenching, pipe laying, bedding, and dewatering
- Strong daily planning, reporting and production-tracking skills (time entry, PTPs, unit tracking)
- Ability to coordinate equipment, materials and subcontractors and to communicate clearly with supervisors and crews
Qualifications
- OSHA 10-hour certification
- OSHA 30-hour certification
- Competent Person: excavation/trenching and confined spaces
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Experience in civil construction: grading, trenching, pipe bedding and testing
