Pipelayer - Underground Utilities

About this role

Experienced pipelayers needed for hands-on underground water, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer installation crews across multiple locations nationwide. This is field work on installation crews — digging trenches, bedding pipe, making connections, and conducting pipe testing. You’ll be working with RCP, HDPE, PVC, ductile iron and common utility fittings. This role targets utility top hands, pipe laborers, and underground utility installers. Typical schedules are day-shift construction hours with overtime and occasional weekend work depending on project timelines. This is a labor position — not a foreman, lead, superintendent, or oil/gas pipeline role.

What you'll do

• • Unload, transport and stage pipe, fittings, and bedding materials on-site; secure materials for safe handling and transport.
• • Perform trench excavation, shoring/ trench stabilization, bedding and backfill for water, sanitary sewer, and storm systems.
• • Install and assemble pipe (RCP, HDPE, PVC, ductile iron), joints, couplings, and thrust restraints to project specs.
• • Operate and troubleshoot laser, level and transit for pipe grade and alignment; follow grade stakes and as-built instructions.
• • Perform trench dewatering, maintain trench safety, and support pipe testing (pressure/leak tests) and CCTV/inspection as required.
• • Follow traffic control plans, set up barricades/flagging as needed, and maintain clean, safe work area and PPE use.

What we're looking for

• • Proven hands-on experience installing underground utility pipe (water mains, sanitary sewer, storm sewer).
• • Familiarity with RCP, HDPE, PVC and ductile iron pipe and common joining methods.
• • Skilled in trench excavation, bedding and compaction, trench stabilization and dewatering procedures.
• • Able to use laser levels, transits, and hand levels to set grades and align pipe.
• • Experience with pipe testing procedures and site inspections; able to follow project drawings and specifications.
• • Physically fit for digging, lifting, working in trenches, and working outdoors in varied weather; reliable attendance and on-time to site.

Qualifications

• • OSHA 10 (preferred) or equivalent construction safety training.
• • Confined space entry awareness and trench safety training (preferred).
• • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a company driving record check and drug screen.
• • Flagger/traffic control certification preferred.
• • Spanish or other language skills a plus; able to read basic plans and follow written instructions.
