About this role

We’re looking for experienced QA/QC managers to inspect refinery and petrochemical work across multiple central and southern states. You’ll lead inspection activities on rotating projects based out of the Kansas City area and travel to Illinois, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Alabama as needed. Triple-certified API 510/570/653 candidates are preferred, but single- or dual-cert holders paired with a CWI will be considered. Travel assignments are common; per diem is available when you’re placed outside your home market. This is field-first work — expect hands-on inspections, coordination with crews, and clear, timely documentation.

What you'll do

• Perform routine and turnaround inspections on pressure vessels, piping, storage tanks and associated refinery systems per API codes and project specs.
• Coordinate and supervise NDT technicians and review NDT reports (UT, MT, PT, RT) to confirm acceptance criteria are met.
• Create and maintain inspection reports, NCRs, weld maps, punch lists and final QA documentation for project closeout.
• Communicate inspection findings and corrective actions clearly to field crews, contractors, and plant representatives both verbally and in writing.
• Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations, project quality plans, and site-specific safety procedures.
• Support project scheduling by providing inspection coverage plans and advance notice of resource needs for upcoming jobs.

What we're looking for

• Hands-on API inspection experience in refinery/petrochemical environments; triple API certification preferred, single/dual API with CWI will be considered.
• Proven quality control management experience on industrial construction projects including turnarounds and maintenance outages.
• NDT technician oversight or technician experience with familiarity in UT, MT, PT, RT methods and interpretation of results.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to write clear reports and coordinate across multi-disciplinary teams.
• Ability to travel frequently and work extended hours during turnarounds; flexible to assignments across IL, NE, KS, MO, OK, AR and AL.

Qualifications

• API 510, API 570, API 653 (list each held)
• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) — considered when paired with single/dual API certs
• NDT Level II/III certifications or equivalent technician qualifications (UT, MT, PT, RT)
• OSHA 10 or 30 (or equivalent site safety training)
• Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, able to travel and stay overnight as required
• Strong English verbal and written skills; able to complete reports and communicate with crews and client reps
