Rodbuster — Bridge & Highway
About This Role
Join a hands-on crew as a Rodbuster in Marshall, NC tying and placing rebar for bridge and highway concrete work. You’ll work outdoors on footings, columns, pier caps, decks, approach slabs and barrier walls, following design drawings and direction from the foreman. This is physical, team-based work that values safety, reliability, and skill growth. Pay ranges $23–$31.50/hr (higher rates require passing the NCCER assessment). Health benefits start after 90 days and 401(k) after one year. Some travel, overtime, and weekend work may be required.
What You'll Do
- • Tie and place reinforcing steel in bridge footings, columns, pier caps, decks, approach slabs and barrier walls
- • Carry, position, mark and secure heavy steel bars and rebar bundles by hand or as part of a lifting team
- • Tie bars and cages using tie wire and pliers; bend and set bars in place per drawings
- • Use paint/keel to mark bars for cutting/tying and read basic layout marks from drawings
- • Follow safety rules and foreman direction, report unsafe conditions, and help keep the site clean and organized
What We're Looking For
- • Minimum 6 months documented field rebar (rodbusting) experience — ironwork alone is not sufficient
- • Reliable transportation to and from job sites and availability for overtime/travel as needed
- • Able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs regularly and work at heights outdoors in all weather
- • Access to basic rodbusting hand tools (pliers, cutters, markers) and willingness to maintain them
- • Ability to read basic drawings, follow oral and written instructions, and work as part of a crew
Qualifications
- • NCCER certification preferred/required for higher pay tiers
- • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.; employer uses E-Verify
- • Minimum six months documented field rebar experience
- • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- • Able to understand and communicate safety instructions in English
