Surveyor — Party Chief & Helper

About this role

Join a survey crew working on the I-10 Mobile River Bridge project in Mobile, AL. We need local craft workers for both Survey Helper and Survey Party Chief roles. Work is outdoors on a large infrastructure project, with hands-on field surveying using GPS/rover equipment. Candidates should be ready for physical, team-based work: setting up instruments, collecting accurate field data, and following site safety procedures. Local applicants are preferred to minimize travel and keep crews consistent.

What you'll do

• • Set up and operate GPS receivers, total stations, and other survey instruments
• • Run GPS/rover shoots and collect accurate field data for stakeout and as-built records
• • Measure, record field notes and maintain clear, organized survey logs and data files
• • Assist or lead a survey crew: prep sites, drive stakes, perform layout and grade checks
• • Inspect, clean, calibrate, and secure survey equipment; report equipment issues
• • Follow site safety plans, traffic control measures, and coordinate with on-site crews

What we're looking for

• • Experience in land surveying and field data collection
• • Proficiency with GPS navigation and rover operation
• • Ability to read construction plans, maps, and survey drawings
• • Comfort working outdoors in changing weather and lifting equipment
• • Reliable transportation to Mobile, AL job sites and punctual attendance
• • Clear communication and basic computer skills for data transfer

Qualifications

• • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• • Prior GPS/rover experience; familiarity with total stations preferred
• • Survey technician certificate, LSIT, or equivalent experience is a plus
• • OSHA 10-hour construction safety card preferred
• • Able to pass drug screening and background checks
• • English proficiency required; Spanish language skills a plus
