Pipe Welder (RMD/FCAW)

About this role

Seeking an experienced pipe welder in Greenville, MS with proven skill in Regulated Metal Deposition (RMD) for carbon steel pipe. This role focuses on pressure-quality pipe joints where the root is welded with GMAW (RMD) and fill/cap passes are completed with FCAW. Candidates must be able to work XXS heavy-wall pipe in 2G/5G flip-flop positions and meet PAUT ultrasonic inspection standards. This is a hands-on role for welders who run root passes with RMD (GMAW-S), complete fill and cap with FCAW, and produce defect-free welds to strict inspection criteria. Expect shop and field work, joint prep, documentation of weld parameters, and direct interaction with NDT/inspection teams.

What you'll do

• • Perform root passes on carbon steel pipe using RMD (GMAW-S) process on heavy-wall 6" XXS pipe
• • Execute fill and cap passes using Flux Core (FCAW) to specified welding procedure and joint design
• • Weld in 2G and 5G flip-flop positions on XXS wall pipe and maintain consistent weld profiles
• • Prepare and clean joints, set up fixtures, and maintain welding equipment and consumables
• • Complete weld documentation, record parameters, and coordinate with NDT/inspection (PAUT) for acceptance

What we're looking for

• • Proven experience running RMD (GMAW-S) root passes and FCAW fill/cap on carbon steel pipe
• • Ability to weld 6" XXS pipe in 2G/5G flip-flop positions to pressure-quality standards
• • Capable of passing employer weld test: 6" XXS carbon steel coupon (2G/5G flip-flop) using GMAW RMD for root and FCAW for fill/cap, acceptance by PAUT ultrasonic inspection
• • Strong blueprint and welding symbol reading skills; follow welding procedures and joint drawings
• • Experience working to NDT inspection criteria and making repairs as required
• • Familiarity with SMAW, general pipe/structural welding practices, and safe hot-work procedures

Qualifications

• • Must pass required weld test: 6" XXS carbon steel coupon (2G/5G flip-flop) — RMD root (GMAW-S) and FCAW fill/cap with PAUT acceptance
• • Welding qualifications or certifications in GMAW/FCAW/SMAW preferred (AWS or equivalent)
• • NDT familiarity; ASNT or NDT technician credentials a plus
• • Valid driver’s license and ability to work in shop and field environments
• • Able to lift, climb, and work in confined/overhead positions as required by pipe welding tasks
